Get ready for prerelease!

As we get return to Tarkir, it's prerelease time! Read the prerelease guide here!
Be sure to read up on the set release notes so that you understand how the set mechanics work!

Pre-release is a fantastic opportunity to bring out local communities together! It's one of the places we have the most new players coming along to play, and for many is the only time that they engage with organised play. Remember that we have an amazing opportunity to create a welcoming, fun atmosphere at all of our events, but especially at prerelease.

Have an amazing weekend with our draconic friends!

Workshop alert! How to run a Tournament

On the 20th April 2025 we are running a How to run a Tournament workshop! This workshop is designed to last around 3 hours and will cover the general lifecycle and structure of tournaments, and the roles we play at those events. If you're just stepping into the world of tournament officiating, if you want to take the step up to larger events or if you'd like to just consolidate your knowledge, come along and join us! The workshop is free to join for all UK Magic Officials members.

Our first Annual General Meeting and elections

On the 23rd March 2025 UKMO successfully ran our first Annual General Meeting! At the meeting Jason Howlett (the UKMO President) talked about our successes in our first year;developing the baseline judging certifications, establishing us as a legal entity and the successful certification of 12 new judges -- congratulations and welcome to our new members!

David Lyford-Tilley (the UKMO Treasurer) gave us an overview of the financial status of the organisation, outlining the actual cash and approximate value of assets that we hold as well as giving a brief history of the UKISA Regional Fund from where UK Magic Officials got this from to begin with.

Winter (one of the UKMO Executive Committee ordinary members) gave us an overview of the current state of certifications and the challenges faced in progressing with further certifications and then carried us on to discuss the workstreams planned for the upcoming financial year -- these were Continuous Professional Development and Certifications, Testing Resources, SWAG and Branding and Community Management.
